Installing the SurveySparrow app for ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a versatile AI model trusted by organizations worldwide to accelerate and improve everything from coding and content creation to document generation and image design—all with impressive speed and reliability. Beyond conversation, ChatGPT can take real-world actions inside other platforms through apps (similar to integrations) available in its app directory. SurveySparrow has launched a ChatGPT app that empowers users to design and manage surveys without ever leaving the ChatGPT interface.

The app lets users perform the following actions:

Create, edit and publish surveys
Distribute surveys via weblink, email, SMS or WhatsApp
Analyze responses
List responses and surveys

Possible use-cases include:

A customer experience team builds and launches a post-support interaction survey to measure effort and resolution satisfaction
A HR manager creates an anonymous onboarding experience survey to new hires.
A product manager runs a competitive feature gap survey with existing users. They then prioritize which gaps to close in the next roadmap cycle.

In this article, we’ll walk through the steps of:

Installing the app in ChatGPT

1. Inside your ChatGPT account, click on your profile and select Settings.

2. When the panel opens, click on Apps.

3. If you have already installed apps, click on Add more. If you haven’t installed any apps, click on Explore Apps.

4. When the app directory opens, search for SurveySparrow, then open it.

5. Click on Connect.

6. A sign-up screen will appear. If you already have an account, click on Login and complete the process.

7. An authorization screen will appear. Click on Authorize.

How to use the SurveySparrow app for ChatGPT

1. After connecting SurveySparrow, you can open a chat and type your requirement as a prompt. Tag the app first (type @SurveySparrow and select it from the drop-down) and then type your prompt. In this instance, we’ve asked it to create a survey.

2. Suppose you want to edit the survey (add/remove questions, rewrite or reorder questions), ask ChatGPT to make the necessary changes in a follow-up prompt.

3. Once you’re satisfied, ask ChatGPT to publish the survey inside your account. ChatGPT will ask you for permission. You can issue a one time approval, a permanent approval for future actions or deny it. In this case, we’ll click Allow once.

4. After approval, ChatGPT publishes the survey inside your account and it generates a widget in the chat to share its status. In the widget, there are options to edit and distribute the survey (you will be redirected to your account in another window), or to copy the short URL that’s generated.

5. ChatGPT can also distribute the survey via email, SMS or WhatsApp, based on your instructions. Let’s check out the steps to distribute via email. Instruct ChatGPT and then share the emails that must receive the survey.

6. ChatGPT will ask for permission to send the email. Click on Allow once or Always allow. ChatGPT will then generate a widget displaying a success status.

7. If you’d like to track the responses you’ve received to date, you can ask ChatGPT.

Note: You can ask ChatGPT to also share the most recent responses from a particular timeframe (eg: today, yesterday, last week, etc).

8. If you’d like to look up other surveys, you can also ask ChatGPT to list them. ChatGPT will generate a widget containing all the surveys and key stats per survey.

9. You can also ask ChatGPT to analyze responses, simply by asking it.

Note: Unlike Claude, you cannot use multiple apps in the same chat.
