Imagine being able to display your best customer reviews right on your website — similar to how you might see star ratings and quotes on a product page. The Feedback Showcase feature in SurveySparrow lets you do exactly that. It takes the responses your customers have already given in your surveys and turns them into a beautiful, live widget (a small display panel) that you can embed on your website.

This is a great way to build trust with new visitors by showing them what real customers think of your service. In this article, we’ll show you how to create your very first widget.

1. Inside your SurveySparrow account, click on More, then click on the option titled Showcase.

Image
2. You will be taken to the Feedback Showcase page. Click the button that says Create New Widget.
Image
3. This opens a setup screen where you'll build your widget step by step. Start by creating a name for the widget for your own reference.
Image
 4. Next, choose a layout to present your reviews.

Each layout shows three pieces of information:

  • Your overall rating (an average of all responses)
  • The total number of reviews you've received
  • Individual standout responses, including the score, the written comment, and the customer's username
    Image
These details will slightly change depending on the layout you choose, so here’s a summary:

Layout

What it does

Slider View

Reviews rotate automatically, one at a time (like a slideshow)

Carousel View

Similar to Slider — reviews rotate through automatically

List View

All reviews shown in a vertical list (visitors scroll down to read more)

Grid View

Reviews displayed in a grid pattern (visitors scroll to see more)

Horizontal View

Only the overall score is displayed, along with the total number of reviews.

5. You need to choose which survey to pull reviews from. Click on the drop-down menu labelled  Select Survey, then choose from your existing surveys.

Image
6. If you have a single rating question and feedback question, SurveySparrow will automatically detect them. If you have multiple such questions, click on the respective drop-downs for each, then select the ones you want and click Apply.
Image
7. Once you’ve finalized your questions, click Save.
Image
Note: You can add multiple survey sources.

8. Suppose you want to only show your best reviews (or reviews matching specific criteria). You can add filters. Hover over the source and click on the horizontal three-dot icon, then click Add Filters.

Image
9. Inside the filters, you can set a global rule: whether responses must match all the filters or any of them. The default is any, but you can change it by clicking on the drop-down menu. Then click on Add Group to start adding the filters.
Image
10. Start by choosing the data parameter to be evaluated — in this case, we will select a survey question, followed by the specific question (a rating question).
Image
11. Next, choose the condition that the parameter will be evaluated by, followed by the value against which it will be compared. In this case, we want ratings that are greater than or equal to 9. So we’ll make the necessary selections and click Apply to save the filter.
Image
Image
Note: The conditions you can choose will vary depending on the data parameter that you choose.

12. You can turn a filter into a filter group by clicking on the plus icon to its right (appears on hover). Repeat the same steps as above.

Image
 13. Inside a filter group, you can set and/or logic for each filter - which is the same as the any/all global logic that we configured earlier.
Image
14. To add multiple filters/filter groups, click on Add Group again. Once you’re happy, click Save.
Image
15. If you’d like to hand-pick which reviews appear in the widget, click on the check-box labelled Display selected responses only.
Image
16. A list of responses (with their respective ratings) appears. You can use the search icon to search for reviews with specific keywords or just scroll through the list and click on the ones you want. You must select at least 3 or at most 5 reviews. Once you’ve selected them, click Save.
Image
17. Click on the Customize section to personalise the look and feel of your widget.
Image
 Here's what you can change:

  • Score format: Display the overall rating as a star rating,or as a number out of 5 or as a percentage out of 100.
  • Widget size: You can customize the size in pixels (minimum width: 650 pixels, height between 320 to 400 pixels), or in percentages (not more than 100).
    Image
  • Theme: There are two preset themes: light and dark, with individual colours for each element. You can change them with your brand’s specific colour codes (in hex code format).
    Image
  • Number of responses shown: You can set this anywhere between 3 to 5. If you’ve already hand-picked your responses, this section will be locked.
    Image
  • Total number of responses: You can hide this inside the widget by unchecking the option.
    Image
  • Usernames: If you’d like to hide the names of respondents within the individual reviews, uncheck the option.

Image

18. SurveySparrow also adds a dynamic remark in front of your overall rating, that changes based on the rating level. You can hide it if needed, but if you’d like to change the remark, click on Configure.

Image
19. For each rating level, you’ll see a preset remark. Edit as per your liking, then click Save.
Image
20. You can also add a custom line right below the rating (up to 100 characters), by clicking on Include Dynamic sentence. Once you’re satisfied with the content, click Save.
Image
Note: You can also add the following score variables for further personalisation and to highlight your brand, by clicking on the $ icon:

  • Percentage (example: “Rated 9.42 by car owners across Georgia”)
  • Average Rating (example: “74% of customers recommend us to their friends”)
  • Total responses (example: “Loved by 70 car owners across Atlanta”)
    Image
Within each variable, you can configure the score to be calculated by choosing the range (more than/less than/more than or equal to/less than or equal to) and the rating value that bounds the range.

21. Once you’ve previewed how the widget looks (across desktop, mobile and tablet), click Save Widget.

Image
22. SurveySparrow will automatically generate an embed code. Click Copy Code to copy it to your clipboard.
Image
Now you can share this code to your web developer and ask them to paste it wherever you want the widget to appear.

22. After saving, your widget will appear in the Feedback Showcase section of your SurveySparrow account. From this page, you can:

  • Copy the embed code again directly from the section.
  • Edit the widget by clicking the three-dot menu (⋯) next to its name
  • Delete the widget from the same three-dot menu

Now, you’re all set. Your customers are already saying great things about you — Feedback Showcase puts those words front and centre on your website, where every new visitor can see them.
