If you have ever downloaded an E360 report, you would have come across the below-given terms:

  • Overall Summary
  • Communication Skills
  • Leadership Skills
  • Your score
  • Other's scores

Have you ever wondered what these are and how they are calculated? Please follow the link for more details on what they are, and In this article, let us learn how they are calculated.

Consider we have 3 sections in a survey (S1, S2, S3) having 3, 3, and 1 opinion scale questions, respectively. And in this survey, we have 1 subject, 2 peers, 1 reportee, and 1 manager.

Overall Summary Formula

{ ( [(S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans) x managerweight] + [ ( (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans)peer1 + (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans)peer2 ) x peerweight  ]  + [ (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans) x reporteeweight] + [ (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans) x selfweight]  ) x S1weight
+
( [(S2Q1ans + S2Q2ans + S2Q3ans) x managerweight] + [ ( (S2Q1ans + S2Q2ans + S2Q3ans)peer1 + (S2Q1ans + S2Q2ans + S2Q3ans)peer2 ) x peerweight  ]  + [ (S2Q1ans + S2Q2ans + S2Q3ans) x reporteeweight] + [ (S2Q1ans + S2Q2ans + S2Q3ans) x selfweight]  ) x S2weight
+
( [(S3Q1ans) x managerweight] + [ ( (S3Q1ans)peer1 + (S3Q1ans)peer2 ) x peerweight  ]  + [ (S3Q1ans) x reporteeweight] + [ (S3Q1ans) x selfweight]  ) x S3weight  }

 ➗

{  [ (No. of questions answered by manager in S1 x  managerweight x No. of managers) + (No.of questions answered by (peer1+peer2)  in S1 x  peerweight x No. of peers) + (No .of questions answered by reportee  in S1 x  reporteeweight x No. of Reportees) + (No.of questions answered by self  in S1 x  selfweight) ] * S1weight
+
[ (No. of questions answered by manager in S2 x  managerweight x No. of managers) + (No.of questions answered by (peer1+peer2)  in S2 x  peerweight x No. of peers) + (No .of questions answered by reportee  in S2 x  reporteeweight x No. of Reportees) + (No.of questions answered by self  in S2 x  selfweight) ] * S2weight
+
[ (No. of questions answered by manager in S3 x  managerweight x No. of managers) + (No.of questions answered by (peer1+peer2)  in S3 x  peerweight x No. of peers) + (No .of questions answered by reportee  in S3 x  reporteeweight x No. of Reportees) + (No.of questions answered by self  in S3 x  selfweight) ] * S3weight  }

  Individual Section Score Formula

{ ( [(S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans) x managerweight] + [ ( (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans)peer1 + (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans)peer2 ) x peerweight  ]  + [ (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans) x reporteeweight] + [ (S1Q1ans + S1Q2ans + S1Q3ans) x selfweight]  ) }

{  [ (No. of questions answered by manager in S1 x  managerweight x No. of managers) + (No.of questions answered by (peer1+peer2)  in S1 x  peerweight x No. of peers) + (No .of questions answered by reportee  in S1 x  reporteeweight x No. of Reportees) + (No.of questions answered by self  in S1 x  selfweight) ] }

Section 2 response:

Section 3 response:

Case 1: Consider the role and section weightages as 1:

Em-4.png

So, according to the Overall Summary and Individual Section Score Formula

Overall Summary: 117 / 35 = 3.3
Leadership Skills: 47/15 = 3.1

Communication Skills: 53/15 = 3.5

Overall Rating: 17/5 = 3.4

Individual Evaluator Scores in a Section

This can be calculated as the average response particular evaluator.

In this case, we have two peers so we will average individual peer responses and again we will take the average of both peers.

For better understanding please refer to Section 1 response.

Leadership Skills:

Self: 9 / 3 = 3

P1 => 10 / 3 = 3.3

Peer: Here two peers are there so it is calculating each peer average                         =>  6.333 / 2 = 3.1
P2 =>   9 / 3 = 3

Reportee: 10 / 3 = 3.333

Manager:  9 / 3 = 3

Likewise, it will be calculated for the remaining sections

What if all roles club to Others expect self?

Leadership Skills:

(Peer1+Peer2) + Manager + Reportee => (6.333 + 3 + 3.333) / 4 = 12.666 / 4 = 3.2

Self: 9 / 3 = 3

Likewise, it will be calculated for the remaining sections

Case 2: Consider the role and section weightages as follows:

Section Weightage: S1 wt = 3, S2 wt = 2 , S3 wt = 4

Role Weightage: SELF=1 , PEER = 2, REPORTEE = 5, MANAGER = 2

So, according to the Overall Summary and Individual Section Score Formula

Overall Score:

767 / 228 = 3.4

Leadership Skills:

(19 x 2) + (10 x 5) + (9 x 1) + (9 x 2)

(3 x 2 x 2) + (3 x 5) + (3 x 1) + (3 x 2)

resulting in 3.2
