Quickly analyze the significant proportions of data.
A pie chart or donut chart is a circular graph divided into segments, where each segment represents a part of the whole dataset. The size of each segment is based on the number of responses received. Businesses can use pie charts to compare different categories of data and see which ones are the most significant.
1. Under Insights, click Dashboards
2. Click New Widget.
3. Select By Chart Type.
4. Choose the Pie Chart.
5. You can also switch between the chart options.
6. Choose the survey for which you want to create the widget.
7. Choose the required dimension for your chart.
Note: You can choose from survey properties, contact properties, and questions.
Supported questions
- Multiple Choice
- Picture Choice
- Rating
- Slider
- Number
- Opinion Scale
- Yes or No
- Date
- Dropdown
8. Ensure the data in the dimension and metric sections are the same.
9. Choose either count or percentage operation from the dropdown.
10. Add filters, if needed, to drill down your data analysis.
11. You can also filter out data by a date range.
Customizing the Pie chart
1. Click Advanced.
2. Select the theme, round off decimal places, and rename the legends (the variants in the chosen dimension).
3. Enter the widget title for your reference.
4. Once previewed, click Add Widget.
5. The widget gets displayed on your dashboard. You can resize and move the widget to your liking.
6. In the case of the donut chart, hover over the segments to identify the percentage of each category.

Unsupported contact properties:
- Single-line text
- Multi-line text
- URL
Pro tips
- Avoid using pie charts to visualize more than 5 categories to keep segments clear and easy to analyze.
- Make sure each of the categories is labeled appropriately.
